McAfee’s Security Risk Management strategy protects customers from the risk of security threats as well as from the risk of non-compliance.  McAfee solutions are divided into four broad categories:

o        Endpoint security - Anti-virus, Anti-spyware, Host IPS, Desktop Firewall, Mobile security

o        Network Security - Network IPS, Network Access Control, Web & Email security, UTM

o        Data Security  Endpoint Encryption, Data Loss Prevention (Host & Network), Device Management

o        Risk & Compliance – Vulnerability Management, Policy Audit & Remediation, Risk Management, Compliance Management

Position Overview:

 

The world’s largest governments trust McAfee for civilian and defense security needs.  One in six governments trust McAfee for their data security needs.  McAfee solutions are routinely leveraged in combat zones.  This strategic role will be responsible for formulating and executing our go-to-market strategy for the U.S. Federal Government segment.  This position focuses on outbound solution marketing activities spanning go-to-market planning and execution, positioning/messaging, sales/channel enablement, pricing/packaging and solution evangelism as well as competitive analysis.

 

Market Segments:   United States Federal Government (expanding to other governments over period of time)

 

Location:  Santa Clara, CA;  or Washington, D.C. area

 

Key Responsibilities: 

·         Go-to-market Strategy:  Develop and direct go-to-market activity to achieve planned business objectives and growth within the Federal market segment. Drive marketing strategy. Analyze existing and potential routes to market and recommend successful strategies for maximizing revenues across the product portfolio.   Provide guidance on optimal marketing activities mix for Federal market.

·         Positioning and Messaging: Create portfolio and solution messages that differentiate McAfee from point-product vendors and that resonate with the Federal market segment.  Synthesize multiple discrete messages into higher-level themes and represent these concepts to both business and technical buyers.

  • Solution Launches: Work across functional groups to plan the launch of solution initiatives into Federal market.

·         Pricing/Packaging: Research and make recommendations for changes to pricing and packaging.

·         Product Evangelism: Communicate product/solution messaging to customers, prospects, analysts, journalists, other market influencers in the Federal space.   Evangelize McAfee vision through series of speaking engagements and high-impact written communication.

·         Competitive Analysis: Closely monitor marketplace for competitive moves. 

·         Market research:  Utilize both secondary and primary research tools to understand customer segmentation and customer buying processes

 

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

·          Minimum 7 years experience in technology product marketing with progressively increasing responsibilities

·          Minimum 3 years experience marketing IT products to U.S. Government (including Federal) customers and government focused VARs. This should include understanding of security-related requirements (product certifications) unique to the federal government market in the U.S., and also now being used at the U.S. state levels. 

·          Experience developing solutions-focused messaging for governments, rather than point-product messaging.

 

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION: 

·          B.S/B.A required, MBA preferred

·          Must have good understanding of U.S. government regulations, procurement processes and buying cycles

·          Hunger for success

·          Ability to travel (approximately 25% if based in California, 10% if based in Washington D.C. area)

·          Excellent communication skills, both written and presentation

·          Security clearance is a big plus

·          Experience marketing to foreign governments is a big plus
