Position Overview:

 

Director of Solution Marketing, Security Risk Management, is a strategic role that is responsible for marketing a broad set of McAfee solutions to enterprise and SMB customers.  It focuses on building and communicating differentiated solutions, delivering crisp value propositions, driving clear differentiation, creating internal & external awareness, and enabling unique routes-to-market available through McAfee’s global reach.  The role requires close working relationships and matrix coordination with executive management, field sales, product & solution marketing, competitive marketing, field marketing, product management, press & analyst relations, and creative services team.

 

Location:  Santa Clara, CA

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

·         Strategic Marketing Direction: Anticipate long range issues and work with other marketing and business leaders to maximize the company’s positioning & strategy. Identify new market opportunities and establish value propositions and competitive positioning.  Work closely with business leaders to establish strategic marketing programs designed to create awareness and preference for McAfee solutions.  Provide guidance to product management about key features necessary to enter new markets and/or penetrate existing markets more successfully

·         Go-to-market Strategy:  Analyze existing and potential distribution routes and recommend successful strategies for maximizing revenues across the product portfolio.

·         Positioning and Messaging:  Create portfolio and solution messages that differentiate McAfee from point-product vendors.  Synthesize multiple discrete messages into a higher level theme and graphically represent these concepts.

·         Sales Tools:  Work with marketing team to develop new tools and collateral in support of new solutions marketing approaches.  For example: white papers, customer presentations, videos, flash demos, webinars, solution guides.

  • Solution Launches: Work across functions to plan the launch of new solution initiatives into market.

·         Pricing/Packaging: Research and make recommendations for changes to pricing and packaging

·         Product Evangelism: Communicate product messaging to customers, analysts, journalists, other market influencers.  Evangelize McAfee vision through series of speaking engagements and high-impact written communication.

·         Competitive Analysis: Closely monitor marketplace for competitive moves.  Partner with Competitive Marketing team to deliver high-impact tools and messages for both internal and external customers,

·         Market research:  Utilize both secondary and primary research tools to understand customer segmentation and customer buying processes.

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

·          Minimum 10 years experience with increasing responsibility in an outbound marketing role within high tech or technology driven company.  Must have experience at Director level or above.

·          Minimum 5 years of domain experience in either security or networking. 

·          Minimum 5 years experience marketing to large enterprise customers (over 10,000 employees)

 

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION:

·          Bachelor's degree preferably in technical or business-related discipline.  MBA preferred.

·          Hunger for success

·          Demonstrated success with identifying new market opportunities and exploiting those opportunities with substantial marketing programs

·          Minimum 3 years experience marketing IT products to U.S. Government (including Federal) customers and government focused VARs. This should include understanding of security-related requirements (product certifications) unique to the federal government market in the U.S., and also now being used at the U.S. state levels. 

·          Experience developing solutions-focused messaging for governments, rather than point-product messaging.

 

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION: 

·          B.S/B.A required, MBA preferred

·          Must have good understanding of U.S. government regulations, procurement processes and buying cycles

·          Hunger for success

·          Ability to travel (approximately 25% if based in California, 10% if based in Washington D.C. area)

We are currently looking for a Sr. Product Marketing Manager to join our team in San Mateo. This position will report to the Director of Product Marketing, the Sr. Product Marketing Manager will work closely with customers & partners as well as with company's product, sales, and services staff to create all aspects of outbound and some parts of inbound marketing content needed to support a fast growing marketing department.

 

Responsibilities:

  • This person shall lead the creation of all marketing collateral including a wide range of internal and external content such as product data sheets, sales scripts, FAQs as well as white papers. In addition, this person shall have responsibility for a case studies, ROI & solution papers based on customer interviews and discussions. Internal content shall be: sales scripts, competitive briefings, and market trends and monitoring reports.
  • Shall work with external PR and marketing communications companies to create specific messages. Work with design and graphic firms to create the complete set of content in all formats.
  • Shall create and maintain all product content for company website
  • The person shall also track and monitor competitive landscape and ensure company website accurately reflects the latest, differentiated company positioning.
  • Conduct customer and partner interviews to generate case studies as well as capture requirements
  • Analyze new industries and summarize and present business case opportunities for management
  • This person shall work closely with Corporate Marketing Managers, who are responsible for marketing plan, lead generation campaigns and go-to-market events and programs. This person shall ensure all the marketing collateral at these campaigns, programs and events is consistent in overall branding, message and details. This person shall also ensure all sales tools and collateral at these events and programs are up-to-date and complete.
  • Work closely with Product Management and other groups to translate technical vision into marketing communications such as technical white papers. Specifically, this person shall also work on market assessment and potential of current and future product modules. This shall include product pricing, packaging and nomenclature where appropriate.
  • Work closely with multiple team members of product, engineering, sales, pre-sales and services to fully understand and reflect both company and competitive product capabilities in all communications
  • Conceive and build (with product team) compelling product demos
  • Train company & sales teams on message and positioning
  • Maintain collateral library and guide field sales on its use

 

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • 5 to 10 years experience in product marketing and/or product management for data management, data integration, data quality, CRM, ERP, EAI, Web Services, or Analytics
  • Outstanding written communication skills to write various types of collateral; demonstrated ability to write product literature, customer interviews, case studies and white papers.
  • Strong, analytical thinking and clear, demonstrated oral communication skills to present the content to various sales, engineering and support staff
  • Strong initiative and follow-through skills with high attention to detail
  • Understand all aspects of product strategy and positioning and be able to incorporate that into all aspects of marketing
  • Experience in at least one startup company
  • Demonstrated the ability to be a self-starter, work individually on projects and as a supportive team member

Position Title: Senior Product Manager-Business Workflow Group

The Business Workflow Product Group (BWF) seeks to transform the way the print industry does business. Our software and professional service solutions add percentage points to the bottom line of our customers and ensure their continued financial success in an increasingly complex business environment

We offer a complete business management information system which combines the robustness and breadth of an industry leading ERP solution with the print-specific capabilities and workflows demanded by the industry. We deliver functionality across front office, back office and production related activities throughout graphic arts business.

The BWF Product Manager focuses on driving the BWF business by ensuring customer needs are being achieved by our combined software and services offering. The Product Manager is responsible for studying the market requirements and competitive solutions and to direct BWF product activities to ensure that BWF has the right solution. The Product Manager will work closely with Sales and Services organizations to ensure that revenue and margin targets for the product group are being achieved and will develop future forecasting methodologies to guide budgeting processes. The Product Manager also represents the BWF PG at industry and regional events.

The Product Manager will report to the BWF Product Group General Manager and will work closely with the following core team members:

·  BWF Group Operations Manager

Responsibilities:

·  Drive desired revenue and margin growth for the BWF business

o        Working with Regional Sales and Prof Services leadership, drive the BWF business to consistently achieve and exceed revenue and margin targets

o        Develop regionally focused market forecasts and drive regional sales commitment negotiations to supply into annual ACP and ASR processes

o        Develop and deliver targeted training sessions and materials to Regional Sales, Sales Support, and Marketing resources to ensure strong understanding of the BWF portfolio

o        Provide relevant voice of customer feedback to identify and develop new product and marketing concepts to further increase the reach of BWF within our customer base

o        Assist as needed in closing sales opportunities and ensure that BWF has a strong base of referenced accounts

o        Focus the tactical achievement of annual forecasts, but also maintain a strategic view towards the future to ensure BWF achieves its longer term goals.

o        Develop product and business opportunity and investment analysis that provides clear go/no-go decision criteria, including understanding R&D and service and support budgeting strategies and plans

o        Use financial and market information effectively to monitor/evaluate and influence performance and encourage a commitment to quality performance at all levels of the organization.

·  Optimize the Competitive Advantage of BWF products and services

o        Develop detailed competitive analysis including pricing, feature set, and product positioning and use that knowledge to ensure that BWF solutions offer competitive advantages within the marketplace

o        Manage the creation of competitive analysis tools, ROI studies, and whitepapers that can be utilized by regional sales and services teams

o        Develop pricing and package models for BWF solution offerings that maximize return for the company while also minimizing confusion for customers and complexity for the Sales staff.

o        Ensure Regional Sales and Services have access to this information in our Sales IT systems

o        Work closely with R&D teams to ensure alignment of feature requirements with R&D capabilities and optimize trade-off decisions

o        Develop a deep customer understanding of the product category and segments of the market

o        Balance regional needs to deliver an optimized worldwide solution

o        Drive product requirements definition and competitive analysis in geographies not yet open to the BWF solution portfolio to determine fit and market opportunity

·  Drive BWF Solution Marketing activities

o        Maintain a strong customer and industry presence through customer visits and event participation

o        Own the marketing plan and execution for the BWF PG

·   The Product Communications Manager will have an indirect reporting relationship to the Product Manager

o        Leverage our brand and category strengths within BWF marketing initiatives

o        Coordinate all BWF PG activities relating to industry tradeshows and user group events

o        Participate in one or more industry forums in order to raise visibility around the importance of business workflow within today’s industry

o        Work with cross-functional team to plan and execute product launches

Education :

·  BS/BA in Business Management, Marketing, Engineering or relevant work experience

·  MBA desirable

Preferred Experience :

·  5-7 years experience in product management and/or product marketing of high value software solutions

·  Prior experience in establishing business goals, forecasts, strategies, and tactics

·  Experience in the Graphic Arts industry with a strong understanding of the business operations of commercial and packaging printing companies
