The Product Manager will develop innovative digital products and product lines that are uniquely responsive to both market demands and the needs of students, instructors and higher education institutions. Responsibilities:

· Develop the vision for each product through extensive investigation of market demands, education research, user feedback, practitioner expertise and competitive analysis.

· Thoroughly document and articulate the vision and business case for each product and gain buy-in from stakeholders across the organization.

· Collaborate closely with product analysis and implementation partners as they create wireframes and prototypes and define functional requirements to ensure cohesion between product vision and implementation.

· Collaborate within the Product team to ensure cohesion across all product lines and coherence of product strategy.

· Continually collect, distill, and disseminate foundational research to inform product development

· Create documents and presentations describing the research foundations of our products for marketing, sales, and training purposes

· Track competitive professional development landscape, keeping abreast of new innovations and developments in the market space

· Responsible for envisioning and defining product line that will generate up to $50 million annually within 3 years.

· Responsible for supporting sales of all products within product line, including training to ELearning Consultants when necessary.

POSITION TITLE: Product Manager

SUMMARY OF JOB FUNCTION:

The Product Manager has responsibility for product definition of AOptix Technologies’ Advanced Biometrics product line and will conduct competitive research, and execute market intelligence programs to guide current and future product definition and product marketing strategies/tactics.

In conjunction with the Vice President of Biometrics Programs, will craft and communicate an ongoing, longterm product roadmap aligned with corporate objectives, business development activities, and technology trends.

Will serve as the main advocate driving the product life cycle, and will collaborate with Engineering to

determine feature tradeoffs based on customer requirements, market opportunities, development resources and program schedules.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop a clear product strategy for the complete biometric product line including product goals,

features/functions, market positioning, pricing, and financial performance objectives.

• Analyze potential market segments for demand opportunity, competitive positioning and

differentiators, price sensitivity, adoption rate, and channel structure and behaviors, in order to

determine relative attractiveness of all segments.

• Prepare comprehensive Market Requirements Documents (MRD) for all products and product

configurations that define features, functions, system performance requirements, concept of

operations, human factors, external interfaces, environmental requirements, product pricing, and

other customer based need as the primary input into System Engineering for the product design.

• Quantify the strategic and financial benefits of pursuing selected markets for these products within

various markets.

• Develop launch plans to address marketing communications, promotions, demos, internal training,

interface with strategic partners and distributors, and positioning for new products and major

releases; ensuring a timely and quality product launch by coordinating efforts with engineering,

marketing communications, sales, customer service, and industry partners.

• Following all product launches, collaborate with services support staff to escalate unresolved product

issues.

• Capture, evaluate, and disseminate competitive market information.

• Participate with marketing communications in outbound marketing of the Products, including trade

press, analyst communications, advertising, tradeshows, customer presentations, and collateral

materials.

• Represent the company at trade shows, conferences, and selected local marketing events (such as

demos) when required.

QUALIFICATIONS - KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS- EXPERIENCE:

BS required, MS or MBA is a plus

The Senior Product Marketing Manager / Director will be responsible for managing the end-to-end profitability of his or her product category, from creating and sourcing new products to managing the ongoing P&L. This position’s ultimate responsibility is to achieve category revenue and profitability targets. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Develop, evaluate and prioritize new product ideas and manage existing product lines to growth.

  • Provide input and assistance to Product Management:
- Maintain the Sourcefire Master Price List for all products and services, and drive the process for updating the Master Price List.

- Participate in sales calls and executive briefings, upon request, to convey new product and/or competitive information.
- Assist Sales with providing product-related content for RFP and RFI responses.
- Contribute to company and product messaging and positioning.
Essential Education, Skill, and Environment
Education and Work Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or other related discipline or equivalent practical experience. MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of high-tech Product Marketing and/or Product Management experience. Experience in Network Security preferred.
Specialized Knowledge and Skills
  • High-level knowledge of network security technology and vendors
  • Experience training both technical- and non-technical personnel on technical concepts
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Reports To: Director, Product Management



As a member of the Marketing team in the Product Manager - RNA role, you will be working with senior management to define requirements of the RNA product line based on overall business objectives, current market trends and customer needs. You will also partner with Sourcefire’s Engineering team to define product plans and schedules while evaluating timing, scope and resource trade-offs. You will be involved with the RNA product throughout all stages of life cycle (conception, definition, development, release and post-release activities) managing strategic planning, feature selection and tactical activities. Other responsibilities include collaborating with Product Marketing and Marketing Communications to create product related sales and marketing materials; evangelizing the products and product strategy both internally and externally; participating in tradeshows, seminars and user conferences.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience required.
  • At least 4 years experience in a product management role
  • A comprehensive understanding of network monitoring and analysis technologies such as Sniffer, Netflow, bandwidth management, protocol analyzers
  • Field experience working with customers and prospects in one more of the following capacities:
    • Business Development
    • Technical Sales
    • Competitive analysis
  • A customer centric background with an ability to clearly articulate customer challenges
  • An ability to work comfortably with Engineers and Sales
  • A business approach to solving technical challenges
  • Ability to travel domestically and abroad
  • Position is based in our Columbia, MD Headquarters
