Product Line Manager, Hypervisor Virtualization for Device Software
(This full-time position is based in Alameda, CA or Ottawa, Canada)

Wind River is looking for a Product Line Manager to provide leadership for the Wind River virtualization product line. The successful candidate must possess a unique blend of business and technical savvy; a big-picture vision, and the drive to make that vision a reality. He or she must enjoy spending time in the marketplace to understand customer and partner problems, and to find and define innovative market solutions. The candidate will own the complete product lifecycle deliverables including strategy, business plan, product requirements, product planning, positioning, pricing and sales enablement, and must be able to work cross-functionally to deliver the industry’s leading device software virtualization solution.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of seven years of proven high-level achievement in software product management with a track record in successfully and aggressively building a software business from scratch to $50M in revenue. The individual will be very technical, experienced in articulating complex concepts to customers, prospects, industry analysts, partners and the press.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Defining the business opportunity and strategy
- Managing the entire product life cycle from strategic planning to tactical activities
- Developing requirements for current and future products by visits to customers and partners, and broad market and industry research
- Lead feature development in the product development organization
- Support sales efforts as required including some travel
- Work with Product Marketing to create content for outbound marketing material
- Contribute to developing and implementing go-to-market plans, working with all departments to execute
Required Experience and Skills:
- Minimum seven years experience in Product Management
- Highly organized, detail-oriented and possessing a high level of integrity
- Exceptional team player that works well in collaborative situations
- Ability to multi-task and follow-through on multiple projects and programs
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to effectively interact with executives, industry pundits, and large external and internal audiences
- Experience with real-time embedded & multi-core technologies
- Strong knowledge of RTOS such as Wind River Linux and VxWorks
- Understanding of embedded hardware architectures, including Intel, PowerPC, MIPS, and ARM
- Technical degree (EE or CS), MBA a plus
