Product Line Manager

Network Equipment Technologies, Inc. (NET) is a leading provider of networking equipment that enables its customers to adapt to a broadband future. NET is looking for a Senior Product Line Manager who will be responsible for our latest high speed networking platform, the NX5010ae. This person would be responsible for defining and driving complete platform solutions for the NX5000 product line.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: • Directs the development of company market requirements for the high speed packet products • Monitors the development of business plans, managing lifecycles and product positioning in the marketplace. • Establishes product pricing strategies. • Develops business plans and product positioning in the marketplace. • Experience with networking product, L2/L3 switches, routers, and high-speed interfaces. • Experience working with the federal government. Ability to obtain secret clearance is required. • Experience working with sales and customers. • Oversees market research, monitors competitive activity and identifies customer needs. • Experience working with Operations team to define Bill of Materials (BOM), product trees and price lists. • Works with engineering, manufacturing and sales to develop new products or enhance existing product(s) or product line(s).

REQUIREMENTS: • Minimum 5+ years experience in product management role • 10+ years experience in the networking field • BS in CS, Marketing or applicable field, MBA a plus • Proven record of leading cross-functional teams to successfully execute against product roadmap • Strong communication, writing and analytical skills • Strong technical aptitude and ability to interface with engineering and operation teams.

Cynthia: Bill, this is a great job posting in terms of the company and position description, but add some more details? Most of the Job Seeker members of SPM Jobs already have satisfying jobs. What would entice one of them to apply for your job opening?
 
Bill: NET is a 20 year old company with startup attitude. We are going head-to-head with Cisco and achieving record revenues. This product line, the NX5000, is undergoing constant rapid innovation by adding and incorporating state of the art features such as unified messaging, VOIP, etc. The constant rapid evolution of our products makes for an exciting environment – NET is not a staid run-of-the-mill workplace even though we are, at the same time, a very respected and established company. Our technology is second-to-none.
 
Cynthia: Tell us a bit about the group that this person would be in.
 
Bill: There are currently 7 people in the group who would be peers to this Sr. Product Line Manager. The group head is a Director. The new person would have full responsibility for the NX5010ae product line and others as they evolve.
 
Cynthia: How about compensation?
 
Bill: The compensation will be based on the overall experience of the person who is offered the job. While I have put some guidelines as to the level and type of experience we are looking for, each candidate is unique and we would base an offer around that.
